The Torreon Field Office was established back in the eighties with two personnel. Lack of call volume necessitated the closure shortly after. Sandoval County Fire Department was established in Torreon in 2000. Emergency Medical Service call volume had significantly increased to facilitate a discussion to open a thirteenth Field Office.
Torreon Field Office was established August 2011 with four personnel.
The Torreon Field Office is under the Departments Eastern Region Offices and is located in the Sandoval County Fire Department in Torreon, NM. In a unique partnership formed between Sandoval County Fire Department and Navajo Nation Emergency Medical Service.
In 2012, Sandoval County donated a trailer to Navajo Nation. The trailer is awaiting utility hook up and will serve as quarters for Torreon Field Office personnel.
Currently, Torreon Field Office is staffed with eight personnel and serves the Eastern Navajo communities of Counselor, Ojo Encino, Pueblo Pintado, Rincon Marquis and Torreon, Torreon has an annual call volume of 650 pre-hospital patient care services.
Patients are transported to Crownpoint Healthcare Facility, UNM Downtown, Sandoval Regional Medical Center, Presbyterian Downtown, Presbyterian Rust, the Heart Hospital and San Juan Regional Medical Center. Mutual Aid calls with Cuba EMS, Jemez EMS, Sandoval County EMS, McKinley County EMS, Careflight, PHI, and Aircare Air medical services.
